Funding - 2007-08 McArthur Research Internships

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Michigan Technological University is pleased to announce continuation of the Charles and Carroll McArthur Research Internship Program for undergraduate students interested in research and graduate education in MSE. Interns will have the opportunity to earn up to $5,000 as paid research assistants working on research programs during the academic year and/or during the summer. Current and former interns who present papers at national conferences based on their internship activities may receive up to $400 to defray travel expenses. Up to three internships may be funded. Subject to satisfactory performance, internships may be renewed for more than one year.

Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior, and Senior level undergraduate students enrolled in Materials Science and Engineering are eligible to apply for and receive Charles and Carroll McArthur Research Internships.

Qualifications and Requirements: Students applying for Charles and Carroll McArthur Research Internships should demonstrate interest and potential for success in research and graduate studies at either the M.S. or Ph.D level. Applications must include endorsement from a faculty member in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Michigan Technological University who is willing to advise the prospective intern. Applicants will also be required to submit a statement describing proposed activities during the period of the internship.

Deadline: Applications for Charles and Carroll McArthur Research Internships are available in the 6th floor main office area and should be submitted to Prof. Mark Plichta, Chair of the Materials Science and Engineering Department, by:
