Graduated in 1982 with BS in Metallurgical Engineering and in 1984 with MS in Metallurgical Engineering. He was ordained a priest in 1990 after completing studies in philosophy at the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and entering the Pontifical College Josephinum Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. Alexander was ordained a priest on June 1, 1990 at the St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette, after which he served as associate Pastor of St. Peter Cathedral, as well as Pastor of St. George Parish in Bark River, Sacred Heart Parish in Schaffer, and St. Michael Parish in Perronville, all located in Michigan. In 1996, he received a Licentiate in Canon Law after completing graduate studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) in Rome, Italy. He then returned to the Diocese of Marquette to assume duties in the Chancery office. His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Marquette on December 13, 2005. He was ordained and installed as Bishop of the Diocese of Marquette on January 25, 2006. Bishop Sample is the 12th Bishop of the Diocese and the youngest Bishop in the U.S. |
